Nelson Libraries have hung big posters celebrating our 2020 Ngai Marsh Awards Best Novel finalists, out on the street in the Nelson CBD. Apparently they’re going to hang up there for the next few weeks until the winners announcement at WORD Christchurch Festival (and then beyond to celebrate the winner too)

R.W.R. McDonald’s debut novel The Nancys is one of most unique books among the list. Set in South Otago, the book is about friends, family, a murder and young girl’s obsession with the Nancy Drew series of books. It’s simultaneously funny, dark, touching and ultimately joyously uplifting.
