About R.W.R. McDonald
R.W.R. McDonald (Rob) is an award-winning New Zealand author based in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. His books are published internationally in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and North America. His debut novel, The Nancys (published in the UK and North America as The Nancys and the Case of the Missing Necklace), won Best First Novel and was shortlisted for Best Novel at the Ngaio Marsh Awards, was shortlisted for Best Debut Crime Fiction in the Ned Kelly Awards, and was highly commended in the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards. He is also the author of Nancy Business (to be published in the UK and North America as The Nancys and the Secret of Tulip Farm), the picture books Happy Millionth Birthday and Rainbow Street, the historical murder mystery An Ambush of Widows, and a contributor to the crime anthology Dark Deeds Down Under. Rob teaches creative writing, mentors emerging writers, and enjoys creating stories filled with mystery, humour and heart.
Nancy Series
The Nancys series follows Tippy Chan and her Uncle Pike as they solve mysteries in the fictional New Zealand town of Riverstone. The series currently includes The Nancys, the sequel Nancy Business, and the short story Nancys Undercover. International editions of the series are published as The Nancys and the Case of the Missing Necklace and The Nancys and the Secret of Tulip Farm. Rob is co-founder of Queer Writes Sessions (QWS), in partnership with Blarney Books & Art in Port Fairy. QWS is a project to promote LGBTIQA+ identifying writers and their works by providing additional platform opportunities.
One such platform is QWS Podcast, a monthly Words & Nerds spin off series, which is now hosted by the excellent Troy Hunter.
