KYD Mentors Program

The KYD Mentors Program is a comprehensive and structured editorial mentorship program designed to support early-career writers in the development of a long-form work of fiction or non-fiction.

Applications for the next round of mentorships, which will run from July to November 2024, are now open. Writers across Australia can apply to work with the mentor of their choice over a five-month period.

A mentorship consists of close reading and reporting on your work in progress (10–12,000 words at a time, totalling up to 60,000 words), along with five consultations in-person, over the phone or on Zoom over the five-month period.

Genres: Crime fiction, adult fiction

I love story in its many forms and have ever since I can remember. I find it a privilege to workshop another writer’s work, and to act as a conduit for them to reach another level with their manuscript. As a writer I understand how feedback delivered badly can impact on a writer. I believe in positive feedback, with examples, and raising potential issues in a way that the writer can think about them and decide for themselves what to do with that information.

The mentorship is managed by Kill Your Darlings , please find more information and application process here.
