Tippy Chan is an 11-year old living in a small town in New Zealand. She’s being taken care of by her Uncle Pike and his boyfriend Devon while her mom is away on a cruise when Tippy’s teacher is found gruesomely murdered. As fans of Nancy Drew mysteries, Tippy and her Uncle Pike and Devon form a club called The Nancys to help solve the case because the local police sure don’t seem interested in finding the real killer. Author @rwrmcdonald creates a fun adventure with themes of grief, homophobia, fitting in, family ties, and friendship mixed in with lighthearted moments of saucy banter between Uncle Pike & Devon. I enjoyed reading the local slang with bits about small-town life in New Zealand. There’s a follow-up novel called Nancy Business featuring the same beloved characters.

The bookmark shown in the photo was made for me by my sons when they were little tykes. (They are 31 and 28 now.)
