Writing NSW Course

Looking forward to meeting the new online class in April! There are some places are still available – details @writingnsw REPOST • @writingnsw What makes a gripping novel? How do characters communicate? When is a trope a trope too far?

Ahead of his online writing course, RWR McDonald spoke to us about writing story through characters and dialogue.

‘I like to write myself into the story and get to know characters through their interaction with each other. Dialogue is hugely important for me to discover who they are, their relationship to each other, and that wonderful thing of what is not said, or what they actually think. Once I have a start to a story, I spend a lot of time thinking about who these characters are, their background, what they were doing before we first meet them on the page.’

Nancy Business Review – @lou_b_reads

Thank you so much Louise & the buddy read crew! 🤩😍🧡💖REPOST • @lou_b_reads Nancy Business by R W R McDonald

What a fabulous read – honestly The Nancy’s have so much fun I just want to crawl into the pages and join them.

This one was every bit as fun as the first book. From the Stinky Airbnb, to Fabulon, to the first period, so many laugh out loud moments.

There is also a serious matter of a major crime which our three super sleuths set out to solve. How can something so tragic be so funny?

The best part about this book is the massive hint at the end that book three might be on the way.

I loved buddy reading this with @bmichie31 @dlight_reads @indoor.g1rl @lindabalogh5077 and @mamas.high.on.books

🧡 It’s been four months since Tippy, Uncle Pike and Devon were together for Christmas. Now back for the first anniversary of Tippy’s father’s death, the Nancys are reformed when Riverstone is rocked by an early morning explosion that kills three people and destroys the town hall.

A new case is born. Is the accused bomber really guilty? Is there a second bomber? And if so, does that mean a threat to destroy Riverstone Bridge is real? And is asparagus a colour? Once again, it is up to the Nancys to go against the flow and ignore police orders to get to the truth.

It’s great to be back in Nancy business again, but this time it’s all different. Uncle Pike and Devon can’t agree on anything and Tippy is learning hard truths about the world and the people she loves the most. Can the Nancys stay together to do their best work and save the town? Or will the killer strike again? When everyone is right, does that make you wrong? And can Tippy ever trust anyone again?
